Tracy Weinberg exemplifies the musical variety and eclecticism found in the Central Texas area. With his unique singing style and accompaniment on the dojo (dobro-banjo) he creates a fresh acoustic sound that is both old-timey and modern. You will hear elements of blues, swing, folk, and more. Add in clever, thoughtful lyrics with a twist of humor, and his music is sure to please your musical palette. Performing solo and with his band, Tracy Weinberg and Friends, he can be heard at many venues throughout the area. Growing up in the Chicago area, Tracy heard live music ranging from the Chicago Symphony to Ravi Shankar to Hound Dog Taylor.
His musical influences are wide-ranging, and include such diverse performers as Louis Armstrong, Leon Redbone, Tom Waits, and Bela Fleck. Tracy has released two CDs, The Other Way Around (2016) and Mountains of Dreams (2012), which charted in the top 30 on the Folk DJ chart. Both were co-produced with Tommy Byrd and feature well-known Austin musicians Warren Hood (mandolin, violin), Stanley Smith (clarinet), Chip Dolan (keyboards), and many other talented local musicians.
